What is a 55+ Community?

A 55+ community is precisely what you think—a community of homes where all residents are 55 or older. Perfect for the semi-retired and fully retired, our 55+ community is for those who want to avoid the hassle and upkeep of owning their own homes and yards.

These homes also feature a much friendlier design for residents over 55, making living conveniently and doing little things around the house easier. It differs from an assisted living community in that residents in a 55+ community can freely partake in many activities without assistance.

My Spouse Isn’t 55 or Older, But I Am. Can They Live In a 55+ Community?

This is a common question we get asked quite a bit. If your spouse is not 55 or older, do not worry because they can live with you! The rule is that only one person has to be 55 or older.

I Have a Pet. Are 55+ Communities Pet-Friendly?

We cannot speak for all 55+ communities, but when it comes to Teton Village, we welcome all critters from all walks of life! Feel free to bring your two, three or four-legged furry, scaly or feathery friends here as they’re all welcome in our family.

Can My Grandkids or Kids Live in a 55+ Community?

We understand that your kids and grandkids are essential to you. If you had the choice, you’d want them to live with you forever (well, maybe). We allow children to stay for visits and overnight stays, but they can only live in the community part-time.

Is There a Homeowner Association (HOA)?

A Homeowner Association is an organization that creates and administers specific rules for the community. When you purchase property within an HOA’s jurisdiction, you automatically register as a member and must pay fees.

Remember that some communities may have stricter rules than others regarding what you can and cannot do to your property while living there. At Teton Village, our HOA is available to answer any questions. Please feel free to contact us!
